On the 2nd of April, the year 10 girls’ rugby team participated in the Berkshire School Games which was sponsored by Sainsburys. The day started off with an opening ceremony at Bradfield College, which included amazing dance, steel drum, and cheerleading performances, as well as flag bearing. Following this we had a tour of the college’s Cultural Village; within this we were able to take pictures with the Rugby World Cup. There were many activities which we were able to take part in, including agility tests, face painting and football. After this we had an inspiring speech from Olympic C2 Kayaking Gold Medallist Tim Ballie, who spoke about the highs and lows of his career leading up to him and his partner’s gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics. Finally, around 2 o’clock, our team were able to play. We played five matches in total, and had an amazing last game, winning 45-5. As a result of the day, we have all learnt new skills which we are able to apply to our future rugby matches. Mr Alexander and Miss Wysocki-Jones were a great help to our team throughout the day, and without them our spirits would not have been kept up all day. Overall, it was a really good day, and a great experience for us to utilise our newly learnt skills in the future.
