King's Group Academies

All students who have been allocated a place in Year 7 for the following September are able to join our Summer School at the end of July each year.

Run by a dedicated team of school staff, this gives our new students the opportunity to meet students from other schools, familiarise themselves with our fabulous site and facilities, start to get to know some of their new teachers, and generally ensure that they are ready for secondary school.

Completely free of charge, we run from 9am – 3pm for the first two weeks of the summer holidays.

Ufton Court

We enormously value our relationship with Ufton Court Educational Trust, an innovative charity that aims to change children’s lives through challenging and inspirational learning outside the classroom. From the exceptional house and grounds of Ufton Court in Berkshire, they aim to raise aspiration and attainment of all children and in particular those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and we are exceptionally proud to be associated with them.

All students, on joining King's Academy Prospect in Year 7, will participate in a two-day residential trip in the first week of term in September. This gives students the opportunity to challenge themselves through a range of exciting outdoor adventures and activities, including archery, invasion games, campfire building, low ropes course and of course ghost stories at night! Student meet others from different primary schools and this is when the strong House bonds start to form, through team building, confidence and resilience and generally having a go. The Leadership team always stay as well, to ensure they are able to get to know the newest arrivals in our school.

Our relationship with Ufton Court continues with additional day and residential visits, including weekend revision trips in Year 11.

Rushall Farm

We are also regular visitors to Rushall Farm.

In Year 7, we run a very successful ‘Resilience and Confidence’ programme, involving weekly visits to the farm, aimed at supporting those students who have found the transfer to secondary school most challenging, enabling them to gain in confidence and settle into their new school.

Rushall Farm is also the base for our very successful Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions.

Reading FC Community Trust

Through the medium of football, we work closely with Reading FC Community Trust to provide challenge and opportunities to groups of students throughout the year.

Reading Football Club’s Community Trust represents Reading FC within the local and surrounding communities, acting as an extension of the club to engage with local people and make a genuine impact on their lives.

The Trust’s motto is “Care, Develop, and Educate” – neatly encapsulating the aims of their work in the local and surrounding communities, highlighting the advantages of young people leading healthy, active and socially inclusive lifestyles.
